The start of a new year

 

AGM 20th January 2022

 

 

Our AGM today had an attendance of 19 members.

All the business of the day was concluded with all officers elected.

 

At the end of proceedings an award was made to Anne Parsons, who has been our secretary for 21 years (and counting). She was presented with a certificate and Life membership of the Association.

Proceedings finished with soup, rolls and cakes.

 

Sunday 13th February Annual Church Service at Lytchette Matravers.

 

Unfortunately a number of members have fallen by the wayside, we wish them a speedy recovery.

This 'Cornish' service was followed by a Tralawney sing song and some videos of Cornish classics.

 

This service was followed by a lovely carvery lunch at the Chequers Inn. There were 13 of us.

 

 

Monday 14th February. - Raising a flag to Lewis Tregonwell

 

Today was Lewis Trzegonwell's birthday. He is attributed to have founded Bournemouth.

 

The Mayor Cllr David Kelsey raised the St Piran flag supported by some of our members.

 

After singing 'Trelawney' ably assisted by Jon Sweet, we adjourned to St Peters church where some prayers were said over Tregonwell's grave by The Rev'd Dr Ian Terry.

 

 

16th March - Bear Cross lunch.

 

18 members braved the rain to enjoy a lovely lunch and meeting everyone once again. Apologies to those not looking.

 

Our first Pasty supper of the season

21st April 2022

 

18 attended with a few missing because of the dreaded Covid.

 

The first part of the evening was used to discuss Cornish items that were brought by members. Aubrey won the 'paperweight' prize for the most popular description.

 

Pasty supper and desserts followed.

 

Skittles and Fish and Chips 19th May 2022

 

22 members turned out to the Bluebird Social Club for an evening of Skittles and Fish and Chips; which were kindly delivered from 'Seafoods' at West Moors and enjoyed by all.

 

Though not expert players we all had a very pleasant evening.

Sunday 26th June

 

Afternoon Tea in Holt 

 

Many thanks to Nina and Graham for their hospitality this afternoon.

 

Unfortunately only 12 people were able to attend.

 

The weather held and Scones, Jam, Cream and Cake was the order of the day.

Lunch at Bear Cross

17th August

 

17 Members atteded fo an excellent lunch.

 

 

 

Social Harvest supper at the Bearwood Community Cente.

15th September

 

We enjoyed a gamo of "Beetle Drive" before enjoying a well furnished suipper.

 

 

Our Annual Dinner was held on October 15th at the Ocean Beach Hotel.

 

We were unable to use our preferred venue because of political use of the previous venue.

 

We were well supported by visitors from various Cornish Clubs and the Caledonians,

however we only totalled 27 attendees.

 

Sir John Trawlney was able to be our guest speaker, having recovered from Covid which prevented his visit for our Centenary last year.

 

Some of us were able to enjoy a Pasty lunch with desserts on the Sunday following the dinner

7.30pm Thursday 17th November

Pasty Supper, Bearwood

 

Our pasty supper was preceded by bingo giving Bob the chance to perfect his calling skills. 20 members took their chances.

 

Pasties fresh from Cornwall and members desserts finished the evening.

Christmas Party

 

We could only muster 16 this year. Bad weather and illness took it's toll.

 

Those who came, enjoyed some games, plenty of food and a good get-together.
